Word Window Card Closure Tutorial

May 17th, 2007 by Amanda

I received a card in a swap on the recent Stampin’ Up! Panama Canal cruise and thought it was the coolest!! When I tried to describe it to my friend Amy, she said, “Huh! What?”…blah blah blah about being a visual thinker…blah..blah…so I thought I’d just do this tutorial instead. So thank my friend Amy (who, by the way has the bestest stampin’ website on the planet).

So, here we go…announcing Amanda Coughlin’s First EVER Tutorial, the Word Window Closure Card:

SUPPLIES:

  • 3 1/4 x 12″ Almost Amethyst CS
  • 3 x 5 ” Certainly Celery CS
  • 2 3/4 x 4 3/4″ Whisper White CS
  • 1 x 4″ Whisper White CS
  • 1 1/4 x 4 1/4 Basic Black CS
  • 10″ Black Gingham ribbon
  • Word Window punch
  • Basic Black Classic Pad
  • Certainly Celery Classic Pad and marker
  • So Saffron Classic Pad and marker
  • Almost Amethyst marker
  • Doodle Alphabet Stamp Set
  • Polka Dots & Petals Stamp Set

Instructions:

1. Punch Word Window about 1/2″ in on one end of the Almost Amethyst CS.

2. On the other end of the Almost Amethyst CS, adust the punch so it is halfway in at the top and side as shown and punch.

3. Do the same thing on the other side so it looks as shown below.

4. Fold your card stock in half and insert the side that you punched on both sides into the word window opening you’d punched first as shown below.

5. To complete the card, stamp images from the Polka Dots & Petals stamp set in Basic Black Classic ink. Use the solid polka dot circle with So Saffron classic ink to fill the stamped black multi-circled image as shown.

 6. Color in black stamped open line flower image with Almost Amethyst marker.

 7. Finish 2-step-stamping and coloring in until the panel is completed. Layer this panel on top of Certainly Celery panel. Wrap 10″ black gingham ribbon piece around the left side of the panel and tie in a knot. Adhere this to the Almost Amethyst card front.

8. Stamp and color the letters that spell out “thanks” on the 1 x 4″ white CS piece and layer on the 1 1/4 x 4 1/4 black CS. and glue to the front of the card on a slant. Wa- la…card is complete.

9. If you’d like to add a little bit more razz-ma-tazz as a step-up, use the Corner Ticket punch on the corners of the middle layered panel (non-letter stamped panel) and insert black brads to add a frame as shown.
