HAVE A SCRAPPIN’ HALLOWEEN!

October 30th, 2009 by Amanda

Here’s some Halloween cards I turned into scrapbook pages in my September and October stamp clubs. The first card and scrapbook page used the Stampin’ Up! Two Tags die. Of course, the recurring theme these last few postings has been my use of the Cast-A-Spell Designer Series paper. I think the pumpkin sheets shown on the tag here were my favorites out of the pack.

I’ve had so many scrapbookers tell me how much they have problems with using two patterned papers together on cards and pages. I firmly believe that is the strength of SU!’s designer paper packs — all the papers can be used together! Look how nice the pumpkin one on the tag looks with the black/olive pattern on the card. On that piece, I just folded down the paper a quarter of inch so you could get a peek at the pretty paper on the other side. Half the time my biggest problem is deciding which side of our beautiful papers to use!

I used the Pumpkin Patch stamp set again for the pumpkins in the card and layout but threw in some elements from another one of our great Halloween stamp sets,  Halloween Frights (the cat on the card and the bat on the layout along with the words on both)

Accessories included the Pumpkin Corduroy buttons and the black 5/8" grosgrain ribbon. For the "thread" in the buttons, I cut a skinny, skinny sliver of Perfect Plum card stock and threaded through the two button holes. Pretty cool, huh? Card stock colors were Old Olive, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie and Perfect Plum.

This month’s stamp club layout and card used the adorable Twick or Tweat set. It’s images will give you a giggle!

Here’s a close up of the scrapbook strip.

Again, I used the Cast-A-Spell Designer paper — different sheets, of course–and pulled out the colors in the paper on the mats for the stamped images.  This was so quick and easy because I only used two colors to watercolor, Pumpkin Pie and Sahara Sand using the ink pads and the Stampin’ Up! Aqua Painter (make sure to use Stazon ink to eliminate any color bleeding.)

Here’s the card that coordinates:

Well, hope these  cute lil’ ol’ samples get you in the Halloween Spirit and perhaps in the scrappin’ mood to crank out a few pages this weekend! I know I’ll be getting my fingers inky, how about you?

Happy Halloween!

Spooky Treats for Who?

October 27th, 2009 by Amanda

With Halloween just days away, I’d better get a groove on and start sharing more Halloween projects in my blog entries! As much as I say I’m gonna, I  just can’t seem to post everyday like I used to! I’ve got some strategies in the fire for my upcoming classes that may help me get on track, but don’t hold your breath.  My November schedule has 3 to 4 events a week! Geesh–pray that I will survive! :o

I cranked this cute box out of my Big Shot with the Stampin’ Up! Pouch die. And like the other projects I posted previously, I used the Cast-A-Spell Designer Series paper and Spooky Treats rub ons. For this project I punched an opening in the center of the pouch box using the Designer Label punch and then glued a small piece of Window sheet on the inside. For the final touch, I applied the Halloween Spooky Treats rub -on over the window sheet and designer paper and added a silver brad on each side! So EASY!

This is the last project from my Spooky Treats class. I made a cute little matchbook  project customized to the miniature bag of M&Ms. Just measure the width of a small M&Ms bag for the width of the matchbook and double the size of the length of the M&M bag plus add an inch for the length. Score one inch on one side and fold the card stock piece around your M&Ms and tuck into your one inch flap. (I punch a staple in about 1/4" which I covered with the Certainly Celery striped grosgrain ribbon. Add some more of the Cast-A-Spell Designer Series paper and the Spooky Treats rub ons on a white and celery layered label, adhere and you’re done!

Here’s the inside view:

Wish I had the time to make these for all the kids in the neighborhood! Ahh..but the schedule is just too tight! Maybe just for the neices and nephews? We’ll see! And yes, I will be eating the M&Ms in this pack NOW! Mmmmm!

My husband and I joked at our local WalMart store Sunday as we bought the "neighborhood" candy for Trick O’Treat night, "Who are we kidding, we’re really buying this for us. You know it will be gone before Friday!" Yes, we’ve made quite the dent into the bags–me with the Reese’s and he with the Kit Kats. Shame…shame! ….snicker…. Luckily we’re not into lollipops, Tootsie Rolls and Gummies! So never fear, the lil’ monsters will still have something. Just no chocolate! HA!

So now you are forewarned, don’t come begging for chocolate here Halloween night! We’ll be answering the doors with chocolate evidence on our face! Ta-ta for now!

Spooky Snickers Halloween Headstone Treat

October 25th, 2009 by Amanda

Created this fun coffin with the matchbox die. I’d seen several different coffin projects with patterns and such but I wanted to keep this one simple. And, boy is it EASY and quick! For the headstone, I just slid the matchbox open a hair and inserted a black piece of card stock slightly smaller than the width of the matchbox. It held up great! Little snip on the corners with the Scallop Border punch to give it a little shape was all that was needed.

I’ve really enjoyed using the Spooky Treats rub-ons. They gave the project just the right spooky flair. Not only did they go on easy for the head stone and the edge of the matchbox, but the coordinating wide oval punch fit perfectly to cut out the oval focal point on the headstone.

Like the previous Halloween treat post here, I used the Cast-A-Spell Designer Series paper and Pumpkin Pie striped grosgrain ribbon.

Wanna know the hardest part of the whole project? Not eating the mini Snickers candy bars tucked inside! ha ha ha!

Pumpkin Boo Pops

October 22nd, 2009 by Amanda

I first learned how to do these cute "boo" pops 10 years ago when I was just a wee lil’ freshly hatched demonstrator chick that didn’t know very much! My upline Susy Miller showed me this cute project and I squealed so LOUD the neighbors heard me! Ever since the Fun Faces stamp set (Only us old-timer demos remember that set) and another pumpkin set retired, we didn’t have anything that would work to make these UNTIL NOW! :o )

I have loved our Cast-A-Spell Designer Paper and even though it goes a long ways, I’m on my 2nd pack!!

CAST-A-SPELL DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

115677   $9.95

And I have used and used and used this Pumpkin Patch stamp set. I’ve also seen some really cute ideas to use the adorable "pumpkin" ovals as Easter Eggs! It is multi-dimensional!

PUMPKIN PATCH STAMP SET

116499 $22.95

I used the Spooky Treats rub ons on the small cello bag that holds the boo pops. With a sheet of black and a sheet of white, one pack will cover your crafting needs for this Halloween! Wait until you see the other things I’ll be posting with these rub-ons. Love ‘ em!

SPOOKY TREATS RUB ONS

115729   $10.95   2 sheets, 1 white, 1 black

Finally, this great project would not have been complete without the wonderful 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.  While I used the Pumpkin Pie color for this project, the Chocolate Chip, Old Olive And Basic Black options would have all worked well. So many ribbons, so little crafting time! :o )

Disappearing Act & Halloween Hoots

October 20th, 2009 by Amanda

Okay, don’t keel over in shock that I’m posting! I know I pulled another one of my disappearing acts on you, but it couldn’t be helped! I swear I’ve been literally so busy I’ve not had even a single second to post I’ve been working that hard on my business. Between settling in after the SU! convention, to losing my wonderful assistant, to back-to-back classes, workshops and events, I’ve barely been able to keep my head above water!

I’ve been teased mercilessly from my customers to my web mistress (Amy Celona-slave driver whose been slapping the whip at me incessantly), I have been made to feel extremely guilty! I promise I’ll make it up to all of you and get back in the saddle again!

Just because I haven’t had time to post doesn’t mean I don’t have LOTS to post! All those classes and workshops have many, many projects attached to them! I was also in an AMAZING Holiday Mini catalog swap that is too good NOT to share so expect that coming up, too! These ladies are uber-talented!

But for now, how about I promise you — instead of 12 days of Christmas — TWELVE DAYS OF HALLOWEEN!? Well, 11 days since that’s all that left? How about 2 for today and 10 more in the next couple weeks? Deal? COOL!!

Here’s two punch cards that I came up with from last week’s GET PUNCHY! class. They were a big hit despite the whining about some of the small pieces :o ) — yes, you customers know who you are and I love you anyway! ha ha ha!

Isn’t she a hoot with her ugly warts? My customers actually stamped "Best Witches" from the Halloween Hoot stamp set on their card but I didn’t have it at the time that I’d photographed this card. SO, just use your imagination! Whew, we had 10 people taking this class and it was quite the juggling act to make sure everyone had the pieces they need since the other projects used duplicate punches. But, I survived!

Okay–I know this cutie Frankie design is all over the place but I thought I was pretty clever combining him with the Sweet Centers stamp set and the Sweet Treat cups with Stampin’ Up!’s orange bead duos. Right? (okay–just humor me then! :o )  )

Oh, what the heck–I’ll treat you to the other two cards as well! I’ve neglected you for two long so I need to throw you a bone, right? This next one is a play on an old idea with a new punchy trick I haven’t seen anywhere–using the snowflake punch for Halloween–huh?

Snowflake? What snowflake? Ah ha, my dears! The spider is hanging from one long arm that runs up the center of the snowflake, see it? (in other words, snip everything off the center line of the snowflake from one end and leave the angles on the other end there. And then the spider web in the left corner of the card was used cutting off all the arms of the snowflake and lining them up in a squarest circle with the middle of the snowflake leftover glued to the center of the spider web, see it? :o ) This is where my stampin’ girls almost lynched me until I told them they could skip that part if they wanted. Geesh…so I got carried away–sue me! :o )

And the last card I did was a pretty much direct copy of Andrea Walford’s design (oh I wish I were as clever!).

Isn’t he just ADORABLE! So stinkin’ cute! Of course, the stamp set for the trees is different because my other one is lent out and I only did one bat instead of two and I added a greeting, but copied the rest!

Okay, did I at least make you feel a little better after my long absence? Do I have your forgiveness? Drop me a line and let me know. I know I’ve missed the blogging!

Thanks again loyal readers. I’ll try not do that again for awhile! Gotta go–another class starts in an hour! TA!
