As you have noticed, I’ve been posting pretty regular for the last few weeks. You can thank a recent Blog Tour I was in for that inspiration! ) But, I’ve been searching for some things to post, I’d realized I hadn’t posted much from my April classes. So for the next few days, you’ll be getting into the birthday spirit with a couple cards a day from my April Stamp-A-Stack–a little birthday fling I threw so all my stampin’ friends could help me celebrate my birthday!
Love the Sweet Always Designer Paper! It’s color combination reminds me of the Neopolitan ice cream flavors of chocolate strawberry and vanilla with a little orangecicle thrown in for fun. (Wanna go grab some ice cream with me later! ;O) — another weakness of mine!)
This Good Morning Sunshiine paper was a wonderful back drop for a festive friendship birthday card. The multiple layers in this card made it easy to focus on the focal point of the card rather than the paper–a true sign of good design (One I shameless stole from the Splitcoast Stampers Sketches). I think I’m going to try this same exact design with the busy Pink Flamingo paper I seem to be struggling to design with! So stay tuned!
Here’s the final installment of my 2 Sweet Scrap Camp album. What I loved most about this kit was being able to punch the lined "notebook" paper with the Spiral punch to make it look like it was just torn from a school notebook. And all the flowers just makes it too easy to create beautiful and fun pages!
Of course, I didn’t share ALL the pages. :O) Just enough to make you REALLY want to take the class! ha ha ha!! Last chance to let me know if you’d like to attend! Drop me a quick e-mail and let me know if I finally twisted your arm hard enough! )
I’m going to wrap up the last few days of May’s National Scrapbooking month by sharing my 2 Sweet scrapbook class scheduled for Saturday, June 6! You’ll create a whole album, including the 3-ring chipboard book and 20 pages for $60. This book is chock full of embellishments including:
a $19.95 2 Sweet Simply Scrappin’ Kit
a $13.95 3-Ring 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 chipboard album
10 assorted Hodge Podge hardware pieces
2 Silk flowers
Satin, Taffeta and Organza ribbons
Over 50 silver brads, including extra large flower brads
When added up, these products alone value $50!
You’ll love all the great details created with brads, ribbons, silk flowers, hardware and clips. And you don’t have to buy six different packages of accessories to accomplish it–your low class fee includes EVERYTHING!!
Come back tomorrow and check out Part II with some of the 2-page layouts created with the adorable 2 Sweet Simply Scrappin’ Kit! You’re gonna wanna come to this class or at least wish you could be here! )
Here’s the last share from my Techniques Class I had a couple weeks ago. And yes, I know, I know…I caught an edge! I’m just telling myself that I wanted that "Happy" word underlined! ) So there…get over it!
One of my favorite masculine oriented stamps Stampin’ Up! has ever come out with is the And Many Mower that is currently in our Occasions Mini catalog. You guys may wanna grab this one while you can because good masculine stamp sets with a little humor are tough to find. This one’s a keeper!
My favorite thing about this card is the white Jumbo Grommet "golf hole". ) It was the first time I’d used this product unveiled in the Occasions Mini. They are so pliable, you can set these things by bending the prongs back with your bone folder. You gotta get some and try ‘em. I promise you’re gonna LOVE ‘EM! Now, onward to the Dragged Madras technique:
DRAGGED MADRAS TECHNIQUE
Materials
·2 complementary colors of dye ink pads
·White or Vanilla Colored card stock
·Scrap of card stock with a straight edge
·Sponge Daubers
Instructions:
1. Measure approx. 1/2” to ¾” from the edge of the card stock and place the straight edge of the scrap on the mark. With a sponge dauber loaded with ink, rub the end from the edge of the scrap onto the card stock, creating a dragged line along the edge.
2. Move the scrap “mask” edge back another ½” to ¾” and drag the ink along that edge, creating a second line.
3. Continue moving the scrap backwards in ½” to ¾” increments un til the card stock has dragged lines from top to bottom.
4. Turn the card stock 90 degres. Place the scrap ½’ to ¾” from the edge and with a sponge dauber loaded with the second ink color, drag the ink from the scrap to the card stock, creating a dragged line of color.
5. Repeat with a second and third line, etc., until you have the look you desire. This “plaid” look can be stamped on directly or be used as a background.
Let’s just get this ugly secret out there right now. Laundry and me do not agree! Yup–my husband does most of the laundry and believe me…does it WAY BETTER than I ever could.
So when it came time to prepare for my Techniques class a couple weeks ago, I realized I needed used Dryer sheets pronto! UGH…I gotta do some laundry! Sigh… So, I sacrificed myself for the cause and suffered through two loads just so I coul have what I needed for the Dryer Sheet technique! Now, no one can see that I don’t suffer for my art! Ha ha ha!
Despite the Tangerine Tango (yes, I’m trying to use up my In-Color card stock!) and Pumpkin Pie/Apricot Appeal color combination, this card took on an oriental feel. I didn’t start out with that in mind but was pleased with the end result. I wish you could see it in person as it is quite the sparkler!
Believe it or not, as much as I adore two-step stamping (it’s my favorite way to stamp!), I hesitated to purchase this stamp set out of the Occasions Mini catalog. However, now I’m really glad I was able to create with it as it was pretty versatile with many different techniques, from watercoloring to embossing to the Dryer Sheet technique as follows:
DRYER SHEET TECHNIQUE
Supplies
Used Dryer Sheet
Xyron® or spray adhesive
Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
Stamps that will show well through dryer sheet
Inks or Embellishments of choice Cardstock
Instructions
1.Stamp and/or color image on neutral cardstock
2.Run image upside down through Xyron™ machine to make the front side sticky or spray it with spray adhesive.
3.Apply used dryer sheet over exposed adhesive and Trim dryer sheet to edge of card stock all the way around.
4.Pour Dazzling Diamonds™ glitter over top of image and rub glitter into dryer sheet. Tap off excess glitter.
Can you say that title 5 times real fast! ) This card was from my monthly techniques class I had a couple weeks ago. This one is fun and easy. I don’t think it photographed that well as you can barely see the chalk lines. But trust me, you’ll love it once you try it! I also used some cool accessories on this card that my customers enjoyed, including the Color Spritzer tool for the speckles, Cutter Kit for the roughed up edges and crimper for the textured navy panel.
I’ve really enjoyed creating some cool cards with this great Sense of Time stamp set from the Occasions Mini catalog. It will be sad to see it go on June 30.
But, there will be some great new stamps coming soon after to try this chalk lines technique on:
CHALK LINES TECHNIQUE
Materials
·2 or 3 colors of Challks/Pastels
·White/Light Colored card stock
·Ruler
·Sponge Daubers
·Eraser
Instructions:
1. Use a sponge dauber to pick up on of the chalk colors.
2. Rub the chalk onto the card stock in several areas still leaving plenty of white space.
3. Pick up a second color of chalk on another sponge dauber and rub the chalk on the card stock to cover the remaining white space. Repeat with a third, if desired.
4. Place the ruler over the card stock in an area where a line is desired. Holding the ruler firmly, erase the chalk along the straight edge.
5. Repeat with a second and third line, etc., until you have the look you desire. Remove the eraser waste by gently blowing on the card stock.
Here’s the final share from last week’s Full Heart punch class! This one is so sweet! Could it be because Raspberry Tart was one of my favorite Designer Paper’s in this year’s catalog offering? Buy these papers now while you still can and while they’re still ON SALE!! (Buy 3 get 1 FREE!) I’m in mourning over the loss of the Raspberry Tart, as after June 30 it will be gone for good — if not sooner. Because it contains the In Colors that are retiring, this DP is on its way out. And since the release of the retired accessories is June 1, I would expect this one to go FAST and as you know, SU! will not be replacing it! So, if this is one of your favorites, too, get it while the getting is good. You’ll be taking your chances after June 1! I don’t want to be handing out any tissues this year! )
But, if you’re looking for good ways to use up your Designer Papers so you can buy more when the new ones come out, this is a great card. The dress only takes a 3 x3 inch piece of DP folded accordian style! With the many choices of fabulous DP, the options are endless for this Designer Dress! Share your creations when you make some new combos. I’d love to see ‘em!
Here’s the third card we did in class today focusing on the Full Heart punch! I love the Baha Breeze/Chocolate Chip color combination. And the Chocolate Chip polk dot ribbon from the Valet Ribbon Originals was the perfect whimsical touch for this easy kid’s card.
Here’s another card we’ll be completing in my punch class tomorrow. The class focuses on the Full Heart punch which I couldn’t reveal until after my little Blog Candy contest was answered correctly. ) Pretty cool, huh?
Stay tuned for the other two cards to be posted this week. You can look forward to a choo-choo card and a card with a pretty gown from the RaspberryTart Designer Paper! Keep checking back! )
