Two Tags Mini Hand Bags Tutorial

March 7th, 2010 by Amanda

When I was approached by my SAM to make some samples with the Sale-A-Bration Welcome Neighbors Designer paper, one of the projects was this cute little hand bag I’d swapped at Leadership Training in a Valentine’s Swap. I, of course, changed the paper so it wouldn’t look Valentine-ish and it was still so cute. So, when the samples were sent out with the SAM reports, I was sent several requests on how I did them. Hopefully, this visual tutorial will help support the typed ones I sent out to my fabulous stampin’ buddies who requested directions:

Project Supplies:

  • Big Shot
  • Two Tags die - To cut out two large tags
  • Melon Mambo Classic ink
  • Melon Mambo Polka Dot ribbon
  • Welcome Neighbor Sale-A-Bration Designer paper
  • Eggcoutrements Stamp set
  • 1" Circle punch (ended up not using the Tag punch)
  •  Pretty In Pink Epoxy or Corduroy Brads
  • Tiny Tags stamp set
  • Tiny Tags punch

Step 1:  Apply SNAIL adhesive below the score line of one of the large tags you cut out of your Big Shot.

Step 2: Place the 2nd tag over the adhesive area of the first tag so that the scored areas overlap as shown.

Step 3: Take a 1 x 6 " piece of coordinating Welcome Neighbor Designer paper and feed it through the open slit that’s just below the curved top of the tag.

Step 4: Slide the 1 x 6" piece of paper through the second slit on the other tag and tighten to form a tent shape with the two tags as shown below:

Step 5: Wrap the 1 x 6" piece around the purse and glue to the bottom. This is what holds the purse together in its "tent" shape.

Step 6: Out of a scrap sheet of card stock, punch out a small oval with the Small Oval punch. Place the Wide Oval punch over the small punch opening and punch to create an oval donut as shown.

Step 7: Snip off the bottom part of the donut as shown to form the handle of the mini hand bag.

Step 8: Apply a glue dot to each end of the "handle" and insert it between where the two tags meet at the top of the "tent" then pinch so that it glues shut.

Step 9:  Apply a Pretty in Pink Corduroy Brad through both holes of the purse through to the other side and close the brad.

Step 10: Stamp the bunny image from the Eggcoutrements stamp set in Melon Mambo on Whisper White card stock. Punch out the bunny circle with the 1" circle punch and add a Stampin’ Dimensional to the back. Glue the circle to hide the prongs from the corduroy brad.

Step 11: Stamp the friends greeting and dotted tag image from the Tiny Tags stamp set in Melon Mambo and punch out with the Tiny Tag punch as shown.

Step 12: Punch a hole in the stamped tag with the 1/16" hole punch and thread with our linent thread and tie around the purse handles. Add a piece of Melon Mambo Polka Dot ribbon with a glue dot to complete the project!

WA LA–You’re done! Cute as a button! Hope you enjoyed this Mini Two Tags Hand Bag tutorial! Go stamp some for yourself to see how easy they are. HINT: You can fold down the rounded tops to create a different look that shows the opposite side of the Designer paper. See  red bag in  the first photo again. Can’t wait to see what you come up with so don’t forget to come back and share!

Something Sunny with Something Sweet . . .

March 5th, 2010 by Amanda

is just what the doctor has ordered with this card. We’ve not seen very many sunny Florida days this winter and it’s starting to get me down. When you’re used to seeing sunshine all the time and you haven’t been getting it, it’s a drag. How do you northerners do it?

So to cheer me up and get me thinking of Spring, I decided to warm up by using the Something Sweet stamp set ($27.95) in a way that some folks may not have thought of since most only see the bubble gum machine in the set and look no further at its potential. The little petal and leaves in this stamp set aren’t shown much in the Occasions Mini catalog and they are my favorite part of this stamp set.

Crushed Curry became the color scheme of the card not only to warm me up but also to use up the stash of card stock and Crushed Curry Patterns Designer paper I’d been hoarding! Supposedly, according to an online interior home design article I’d read recently, yellow and gray are going to be the "In thing" this year. So, I decided to combine Basic Gray with my Crushed Curry and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it in this card!  The splash of Curry Polka Dot ribbon didn’t hurt the cause either! :o)

I ended up liking this card so much, it just had to go into my Birthday Stamp-A-Stack repertoire. So, bringing in a birthday greeting meant I needed to dust off my Think Happy Thoughts stamp set ($16.95 - p. 144 in the current catalog) and it’s cheery daisy stamp made a convenient accent in the middle of the birthday greeting circle in the center of my flower. Of course, it screamed to be punched out with the 1" circle punch popped up with a Stampin’ Dimensional with a little Curry sponged on the circle edges. The birthday greeting circle was punched out with the 1 1/4" Circle punch and then layered on a punched out 1 3/8" Curry circle. This card is one of those that is quick and easy but packs a WOW! punch!

So, sign up for my Stamp-A-Stack class next Friday…there’s still time! And I’ve added a Saturday night, 6:30 pm time slot as well! Give me a shout if you have any questions! I’d love to see you smiling at my stampin’ table!

Welcome Neighbor Birdhouse Cards

March 3rd, 2010 by Amanda

Happy Birthday every birdie! This card concept using the Sale-a-Bration Good Neighbors stamp set (FREE stamp set with a $50 order) was developed in January for a Sale-A-Bration swap, except it was in Pretty in Pink and Sage Shadow. I love this color combination much better!

It’s just so warm and inviting, don’t you think? So, when I received a call from my Stampin’ Up! Account Manager (SAM) asking for some ideas using our Welcome Neighbor Designer Series paper (another Sale-a-Bration freebie with a $50 order), I knew I could easily translate this design using the paper.

I think I like this version better using the designer paper. However, for a class I’ll have to use the other one since I won’t have enough paper. The first card will be part of my Stamp-A-Stack scheduled next Friday, March 12!

CLICK HERE IF YOU’D MORE INFO OR IF YOU’D LIKE TO REGISTER!

And one more tip, if you still own the Stampin’ Up! 3/4" square punch that retired last year–that’s what I used to make the birdhouse base! If you don’t, so sad for you! :o) But you can still do it, just cut a 3/4" square out of card stock!

That’s it for my share today! Now go stamp somethin’! Ta!

Birthday Stamp-A-Stack cards

March 2nd, 2010 by Amanda

Seems like I’ve been posting a lot of scrapbook page and punch art samples lately, so I figured I’d give everyone a little break and post a couple simple cards that are a part of a Birthday Stamp-A-Stack class I have coming up Friday, March 12 (10 am to 1 pm & 6:30 - 9:30 pm).

I tried to design different types of birthday cards. This one is  an all-around one but can also be used for the younger ones in our lives. It uses fun, bright colors and the stamp set is Bitty Birthday, only $12.95 for a set of 4. It’s also available for FREE as part of Sale-A-Bration’s $50 purchase special!

This is my masculine offering. So simple but striking, don’t you think?

It uses the beautiful Medallion stamp ($17.95) in Chocolate Chip on the fabulous Dusty Durango In-Color card stock. The pop of color with Tempting Turquoise is the perfect complement using the Sale-A-Bration stamp set offering, Vintage Labels. What I’m excited to show everyone in class is how easy it is to see and place the birthday greeting in the center of the image using our Clear Blocks! They are gonna LOVE IT!! And what’s not to love about being able to punch out the image with our Scallop Circle punch. Brilliant on Stampin’ Up!’s part as usual!

You can register for my class by clicking on Birthday Stamp-A-Stack.  HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! I’ll be posting more cards as the event gets closer!

A Lark in the Park Page

February 28th, 2010 by Amanda

This page idea was sparked when my sister called on Valentine’s Day with an invitation to breakfast which we extended to some lolligagging at the park with her and my nephews and brother-in-law. I’ve finally decided that when I design scrapbook pages for class, I’m going to have a need for that page as well so I can one day–whenever that may be in the next decade — actually USE IT! ha ha ha!

Was that TMI? ha ha!

Don’t you just love the Love Bandit set? If you haven’t seen it in the Occasions Mini catalog, you need to take a peek. It’s even cuter in person when you stamp the lil’ racoon, owl and squirrel critters. They are adorable!

Project recipe:

  • Almost Amethyst 12×12
  • Mellow Moss 8 1/2 x 11
  • Whisper White 2 x12
  • Handsome Hunter 2 1/2 x 12
  • Love Bandit Stamp Set
  • Basic Gray Classic Ink
  • Almost Amethyst & Creamy Caramel marker

Stamp the tree from Love Bandit on the Whisper White strip in Basic Gray five times as shown. On a scrap sheet of white, stamp the tree again in both Handsome Hunter and Mellow Moss ink. Cut out the heart-shaped tree top and glue some flat and pop up some.  Stamp the tree trunk, owl and raccoon in Basic Gray. Color the tree trunks with Creamy Caramel marker and the raccoon heart with the Almost Amethyst marker. Sponge Mellow Moss on the bottom of the white strip and Almost Amethyst at the top. Glue the White strip the the handsome Hunter strip. Then glue this strip to the bottom of the Almost Amethyst 12×12. Glue the 8 1/2 x 11 Mellow Moss card stock aligned to the top of the strip. Add photos and a header and you’re done! (Wish I could find the time to do that part! :o)  )

Have a great weekend!

I love this stamp set "With All My Heart"! This layout will be worn out by the time I’m done as it also was a project at my Stamp Vamps meeting this past Monday!

Kisses on Valentine’s Day….

February 14th, 2010 by Amanda

. . .Another Tutorial Treat!

You can never get enough kisses, Valentine’s Day or not, right?

Here’s a project I’ll be teaching at my Stamp Vamps team meeting tomorrow as well as at my With All My Heart class on Tuesday. It starts out looking like a cute little purse like this…..

But take the clip off (Take it off, BABEEE! Wooooo!) and it opens up to reveal some lovely see-thru lingerie like this:

Can you see the hidden Kisses yet?

How about taking a little more off?

Oh yeaaaa!!!

Well, if you still don’t see it — here’s a close up of the Kisses:

Okay, I’ll quit teasing…Kisses is the beautiful white die-cut piece on the pink card. It’s a new product offering in our Occasions Mini catalog (p. 19) and I think is awesome for sending love notes. I actually ran this Kisses Love Note through our Finnial Texturz folder before gluing it to a pink 2 x 2 note card I cut. I then punched out a pink 1 3/8 circle from our punch and layered on a Mellow Moss stamped flower from the With All My Heart set that was punched out with the 1 1/4" punch. I then just added a pink Epoxy brad for my fun finishing touch!

But what I thought was pretty cool was the fact that the Small Square Glassine Envelopes that were meant for these Kisses Love notes, fit perfectly in out Rectangle Glassine Envelopes (these were made for the Hugs Love Notes in the mini).

So, just as I did in the previously posted Glassine Bag Photo book, I cut both ends of the Rectangle Glassine envelopes off and made it the insides of my little mini purse to hold two of the Kisses tags. I glued the rectangled glassine envelope to the purse insides to keep it stable.

The Mellow Moss outside card stock measurements:  3 x 6" scored at 2 3/8 and 2 5/8" & 5 then punched on the short scored end with the FREE ! I Then just punched holes on this sides scored lines to add the Pink Taffeta ribbon to make the purse handles. To keep it closed, I used Wide clip from our Clips Assortment pack (112580 $6.95) to hold the purse shut. So sweet and adorable!

Again, all these Glassine envelopes and Love Notes are on page 19 of the Occasions Mini catalog. You can download that from my blog right sidebar . To place any order, feel free to shop my web site http://amanda.stampinup.net .

Why not go treat yourself to a Valentine’s Day goodie. Give yourself a Stampin’ Happy Valentine’s Day! Enjoy!
